The 2008 Wenchuan earthquake made China as well as the world shocked and sad, leaving thousands of people dead, injured or missing. Those who survived the earthquake suffered a lot from the loss of their families, homes and belongings which they’d acquired through several years’ hard work.

People from all walks of life donated time and materials to help those suffering in the earthquake-hit areas. My husband, Mr. Xu went to the disaster area on May 26,2008 to help the local people to reconstruct homes and spent one and a half year in Yuquan Town in Deyang City, Sichuan directing construction workers to build new homes for the survivors of the earthquake.

Here I want to share some original pictures taken at the earthquake spot in 2008 and some pictures taken on the sixth anniversary by his friends in Yuquan Town.

It is really amazing to see what a big Change has taken place in the past six years with people’s courage, wisdom and hard work. As you can see, everything takes on a new look. New houses, wider roads, modern schools are in sight at one shot; however, what hasn’t changed is the children’s smile. They are so lovely! And it reminds me of how important it is to cherish our peaceful life, isn’t it?
